She stood in the fire with me. She will crack a joke, put your sister on FaceTime, make you incredible placenta pills, and be there for your texts weeks later when you think your baby has a tongue tie and you might have mastitis — basically she is everything. SO YEAH 11 out of 10 for Britt Sando. She is Dope AF.

Britt Sando CD(DONA), LCCE, IBCLC

Birth doula services, childbirth classes, placenta encapsulation and lactation support in Morris, Sussex, Essex counties and surrounding New Jersey areas.

I love my job. When I'm headed to a birth, my heart races — and when the baby is born, it sings. But most of this job is waiting. Being on call and staying available, but also answering a small question, offering reassurance or resources, or confirming that, “yes, you should call your midwife!” That's not the glamorous part — but it's the part that matters, because it means you're never doing this alone.

Birth matters- but so does the pregnancy that leads there and the weeks that follow. The systems that we have aren’t set up to value the individual, and many common practices separate parents and babies. You already carry more knowledge and power than the system acknowledges — I can help you access it, and stand with you when the system becomes overwhelming. This work is about keeping the humanity in the room, no matter what.

I'm Britt Sando, a birth doula, childbirth educator, and lactation consultant serving families across northern New Jersey at Hummingbird Doulas. Whether you're planning a home birth, a hospital birth, a VBAC, or anything in between, I'm here to help you find your own path — with less stress, and more joy.

  • Birth Doula Services

Studies show that continuous labor support improves outcomes — less intervention, shorter labors, higher satisfaction with the birth experience. Having someone who knows the room, knows the system, and knows you makes a difference. I'm here to help you navigate pregnancy, birth, and those first tender postpartum days — so you are informed, supported, and less alone in all of it.

  • Childbirth and Breastfeeding Education

Knowledge doesn't just reduce fear — it changes what's possible. My childbirth and breastfeeding classes are honest, practical, and fun. Private or group, in office or online, they're built around your specific situation, not a one-size-fits-all curriculum.

  • Placenta Encapsulation

Your placenta is rich in hormones, protein, and iron — and many families find that encapsulating it supports their postpartum recovery. I prepare it raw and dehydrated, encapsulated into vegan pills, with a tincture and cord keepsake included. Pick up and delivery are included.

  • Lactation Support

Feeding your baby is an important part of your role as a parent — but that doesn't mean the beginning comes easily. I offer free weekly lactation circles in Madison and monthly in Flanders at The Midwives of New Jersey, plus private support when you need more than a group setting. Real-world, judgment-free help from someone who has seen a lot of dyads navigating the feeding relationship, and knows that there is an infinite number of right paths.
